RESISTANCE FOR HYDROGEN SULPHIDE
(H2S CORROSION)

Post-heated welds reduce the levels of residual stress and have
a higher resistance to corrosive environment than non-post-heated welds.

PREVENTS BRITTLE FAILURE

Once post-heated, the residual stress is relaxed.
This results in creating a stronger weld and reducing the risk of failure of the material.

GREATER RESISTANCE FOR IMPACT LOADING AND FLOW

Carbon steel and alloy softens after being post-heat treated.
Therefore, a post-heated weld is typically lower in tensile
and yield strength.

Welding at sub-zero temperatures causes increased residual stress.  (With no preheating, cracking is usually the result.)

It ensures uniformed heat transfer of the welded zone.

Removal of Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) out of previously used pipe to prevent porosity, therefore re-using the pipe and greatly reducing costs.

The temperature of the material is completely controlled, which reduces cracks and brittleness caused by irregular cooling.

Maintaining strict and precise control of process piping and equipment when required due to facility/process start-ups or insufficient facility heat systems.
(Examples of this are process lines and equipment for molten Sulphur and salt bath transfers.)
